I have confidence issues and don't know what to do. I'm also reluctant to change.

I have serious confidence issues, and today I went to my first day of a new school.

Unfortunatley I have been at the same school previously my whole life. Yeah I have mates outside of school and that, but that one day has just altered everything about how I feel. I thought in my previous school I could make a difference in the world, now I'm just lost, confused and I know no one.

I'm not very sociable either, and just not comfortable with the environment. I just seem to have this ability for people not to like me - partly because I'm not totally like a normal teenager, I'm slightly more mature and realistic.

I just don't know what to do - I have to go there as well because I didn't apply anywhere else.

Friendships are a massive problem - I don't want my character to change to the point that I can't talk to my current friends because me myself has changed.

Confusing I know but thats the problem.

I just don't like it...how can I be more sociable? Confident? Everything?

HELP!!

lexilou agony auntCan you talk to a family member or a school counsellor for advice? Sometime when we share problems they dont seem so huge.

Confidence comes from within but you can fake it too. This often leads to you becoming more confident naturally.

Make a plan in your head, try and smile at one complete stranger every day. Build up to making small talk to one person a day if you can. Just easy stuff, what the weather is like (yes Im british!), how bad the cafeteria food is or how awful the last assignment was.

Once you realise that you can do it then it will only get easier. Join out of school activities that you are interested in and you may find lots of people in the same situation as yourself.

Dont think of it as having to go there as you only applied to one place, be positive about it and tell yourself it was a good decision. I wish you luck x
