I have a light patch on my upper lip and I don't know what to do about it

Hey, I thank anyone in advance who takes the time to read this and answer it, because it's a rather small problem yet it greatly affects my self confidence.

See, I grow a bit of facial hair above my lip and I remove it no problem with waxing strips. The problem is, the skin just above my upper lip (where I wax it) appears lighter than the rest of the skin on my face. I can only imagine it's lighter because of years of waxing my upper lip. I wear a bit of makeup above my upper lip to cover up the fact it's lighter, but that only works in the winter. When it's warm or hot out, I just sweat it off, so you can still tell. It's not flattering in the least.

I'm starting a job soon where I'll be working outdoors and sweating A LOT, so is there a way I can permanently fix this? It's quite embarrassing, and people HAVE asked me about it before, so I know they notice it. It's not just in my head. I want to be able to go to my new job, and not feel self conscious, or worry my coworkers will judge me over it.

What can I do to make the skin there the same color as the rest of my face? I would like to not have to wear any makeup at all, and if it weren't for that lighter spot, I wouldn't need to. Not to sound full of myself, but I'm actually a very attractive woman. What a shame for it to go to waste over something small like that!

So_Very_Confused agony auntI have waxed my upper lip, chin and eyebrows regularly for more years than you have been on this earth. I do not have any discolored patches from waxing. I do not think that the waxing is causing the discoloration.

I do have spots on my arms where I am lighter in skin pigment than the rest of my body and yes it is way more noticeable if I am tan. I have asked the doctors about my spots (both the light ones, the dark ones that have come with age and the red ones called cherries and except for one or two I'm told they are normal)

First thing I suggest is seeing a dermatologist to make sure that everything is normal and healthy I agree with Person12345 in that case. I also agree there are makeups that cover that do not sweat off.

You are in the USA so check this woman out:

it's made to cover disfiguring scars a bit of pigment cover will be NOTHING for her.

There are plenty of methods to get rid of it, like laser and electrolysis. And it's permanent.

person12345 agony auntFirst go to a dermatologist for a consultation about it to make sure there's nothing wrong.

Then it's probably worth looking into permanent/tattoo makeup to see if it would be possible to get it blended naturally.

In the meantime your makeup shouldn't sweat off, it's time to switch makeup. First you need a really good primer. Find one for oily skin and read reviews on it. Usually they have words like Mattifying in them. Then get a waterproof concealer. Set it with mattyfying powder, then spray it with a setting spray. You should carry blotting papers with you and a mirror and blot any excess sweat or oil off every few hours. Read reviews before purchasing your products! Remember the sales people at counters work on commission, so don't just go to the counter and ask for recommendations.
