I'm 16 and i noticed it when i was about 10, thought it was unusual but chose to ignore it because i assumed it was probably normal and i just didn't know enough about my own anatomy. However i've recently become sexually active, and my bf (who is relatively well informed about the female anatomy) commented on it saying he hadn't seen one on any other woman before. What the hell's going on? Is this normal? Reply to this Question Share |

This is called a skin tag. The title explains it all, that's all it is. They usually grow around the anus and mostly on older people. They can be found on other parts of the body, like the neck for example and can appear on younger people. They are perfectly natural and harmless. It is possible to remove them but it would require at least a local anaesthetic or sedation and because of the location post operative infection and bleeding can be a problem. The best thing to do is leave it and forget about it, if it's not causing a problem and it's not painful just don't worry about it. If you really want rid of it go to your doctor and he will advise you but remember that you will have to go the hospital to have it removed and you will be in a bit of pain post op. Just one more thing, you are obviously prone to skin tags, some people are, so if you have it removed it's more than likely that another one will appear sooner or later.
Best of luck and don't worry.
