A male reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2006):

I just have to add, that this phobia i have is completely erroneous i have no clue why i have it, i have a date next weekend with a girl from the internet, i met her on myspace, i blew her off this weekend, but i have a date with her next weekend, im only 16 and i dont know whats wrong with me.

Sometimes i cry myself to sleep because i've become a big loser and im afraid to be in a room with alot of people i'll shake and feel like im going to faint, do i have a mental problem?

eyeswideopen agony auntI certainly think you would hugely benefit by seeing a counselor. He/she will be able to get to the root of your problem and help you to get beyond it. You may have poor self-esteem, or fear of rejection stemming from your previous relationship, or it could be something else entirely. Sometimes the symptoms of a problem are totally different than one would expect. Try to find a good therapist and see what they can do for you. Good luck!
