reader, anonymous, writes (8 February 2010): Why not try to make it work with him? At least you don't have to go through the complications of meeting his family, him meeting your family, and hoping that your family likes him and his family likes you. It seems like you have the perfect template to give it a shot. Who knows, maybe you where meant to be.
