writes:I have just started a new relationship about six months ago. We had sex everyday sometimes twice a day. I have noticed that I have been gaining a lot of weight and craving many many things. I had my tubes tied about 3 years ago so I dont think I am pregnant even though I am starting to look like I am. What is happenening to me? Can I be pregnant? Should I go buy a test? I have been through alot of stress lately but I have never gained weight like this before. Please someone help I dont know what should I do??

reader, anonymous, writes (22 March 2007): the surgery can sometimes fail, and when it does, it can sometimes lead to ectopic pregnancies (in the tubes instead of the uterus), which are very dangerous for you. so definitely check it out sooner rather than waiting to see. better to just know.

What If Tubal Ligation Fails?
It is possible to become pregnant following tubal ligation. The failure rate is low at 2-10/per 1,000 women. There is no 100% guarantee for any form of tubal ligation. Should you become pregnant, you will usually have a normal pregnancy. However, you have a higher chance of a tubal pregnancy (ectopic). Signs that you have a tubal pregnancy are pain on one or both sides of the lower abdomen; pain and spotting after a missed period; a very light period; or feeling faint or dizzy with pressure on the bowels. Should you have any of these signs after a tubal ligation, you should seek medical help as soon as possible.
