I never know what to say to anyone or how to start a conversation. And im always paranoid about people, if they talk to me all they will do is run off to there mates they can make so easily and laugh about me. I though I was getting a little bit of confidence back this year, but then I was told by someone, one of the only people that i feel comfortable around, that everyone in my class said quite a few nasty things about me. Now I feel completly worthless and don't know what to do :(!!!

Speak to your GP about your panic attacks, see what they actually are. Perhaps he can refer you for some counselling, it sounds like you have terrible self esteem, see if there's a way to work on that :)

don't feel worthless. remember, you'll get through this. I think what you need to do is to stop caring about what other people say or think of you. Just try to be friendly with people, smile and make small talk but don't go out of your way to be a friend with someone. If someone wants to be your friend, they will be; no need to run after them or be paranoid about what you've said/ they said about you.
I know it's not easy to make and find good friends...in fact, I've always struggled to make new friends... joining a club (sports/dance/book club/voluntary work) or something might help you come across some nice people. Good Luck
