Can you not text or call her? If you can't see her then you need to keep up the communication as best as you can given your current situation. For some reason you can't call/text then send her email, get on skype, msn, yahoo messenger and send her a "Happy birthday" that way.

As for her birthday, get her something like a flower or if you want a present and if she lives nearby try to sneak out for a few minutes and give it to her or send her a card to show her that you care.
