This is why actors are desperate, insecure people. They get accepted or rejected based on things that are outside their control and for reasons that they may never understand or have control over.
Maybe the director already had a type in mind and the other girl was it.
Maybe they had a costume already and it was too small for you.
I highly doubt that this had anything to do with your audition piece. The point of casting it to luck past that.
Anyway, take the 'sucky' role and act the hell out of it. The way you get better is to act your best every chance you get.

It a bunch of working actors discussing your situation exactly.

If you're going to pursue an acting career then you should finish school and get grades first so if you fall you have qualifications to fall back on. You tried your best with the audition and if you didn't get it then that's OK, it happens to the best of us, even famous actors and if acting is something you want to pursue then that's something you're going to have to live with.
Join drama groups and at your age that's all you can do to give you acting a kick-start. Practising in the mirror is good because you can get to see whuch facial expressions are good and show off your acting. Also, moving might not be that much of a bad thing; you have a fresh start in a new school to really let your acting go.
For instance; a really good actor will not feel to embarressed to let themselves loose in an audition. The thing when you're acting is to become that character and not think that you are yourself, so when people laugh at you, imagine they are laughing at your character, not you. Good luck xxxx
