A male age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I'm so scared of the future. I'm not religious, but I think of the world really coming to the end. There is bad news everywhere.

What do you guys think about all of that?

Is this right to feel depressed about the future,or its just me?

Hi

Yes everywhere you look it is doom and gloom...some real and some not. I often wonder if our minds are been altered to a dark state through media etc! If there is somthing we can do to change the world we try and do our bit. But a world full of us humans been depressed will not help the world will it?

Will the world come to an end? ill be too busy enjoying it to even notice if it does. The world comes to an end if we come to an end....start been positive, we live on anyway in my eyes so who gives a toss!

It's obvious that people are scared about the end of the world because it means the end of their own life. But in a way I think that people would prefer this ending, as most people do not want to die alone. If there is some massive disaster, and everyone is screaming and running about like chickens with their heads cut off, then you will be well distracted when the meteor crashes down on your head. Seems like more fun than other ways of going...

Yes the world will come to an end but we are not to dwell on this... I suggest you get with a christian pastor and they can explain all of this with you. I am a christian and the end of the world is scary but I know where me and my family are going when we die and this brings me peace... please take my advice and talk to a christian pastor (I am a baptist) and I guarentee this will make all the difference.

May God Bless

Its fine brother. Everybody is depressed about the end of the world, but try seeing a psychological therapist. I'm not saying your crazy, but it could be something troubling your mind. Completely normal. And not trying to make it worst, but the world will end someday. People say if we keep littering and polluting the air, global warming is possible to kick in in another 13 years. But theres a 90% chance the world won't end until all of us on it today are dead.

I'm a journalist and I can tell you that good stuff happens all the time, but we don't cover it because it's not news.

Have a look at all the people on the street who went to work and didn't get murdered and who will go home and have fabulous sex with their gorgeous lady / man.

There is lots of good in the world.

Stop watching news and get out and have fun with a mate.

Good Luck!! xx

A female reader, anonymous, writes (20 November 2008):

In most situations in life, there is the good news and the bad news. The media often reports bad news and dramatic things; it does not report all the small things that make the world go round, like the people you love, a cosy home, nature, nice things to eat, hot water... I could go on for ever, all those things we take for granted.

Try to count your blessings as this really helps. If you are really depressed you might benefit from exercise, counselling, finding good company, eating properly, treating yourself to things, getting out somewhere nice, getting light in the winter and... positive thinking.

There are lots of books and websites on positive thinking. A negative attitude just gets you down in the end, whereas positive people live longer and are happier.

I'm not saying depression is easy to overcome, but there are ways of coping with it.
