You are a very special person. You have the guts to admit you are overweight at your age. Try eating more sensibly. Do a bit of exercise to start with. Maybe get a sit up machine and do them very gently. 5'3" is a good height to be, same height as me!

Get your parent to take you along to the doctors and he will give you a healthy eating plan but seriously i don't think you are too overweight. You are in the age group of growing teenagers so a bit of body fat is acceptable, it will shift with healthy eating and exercise.

Take care and i wish you well.

Rhythmnandblues2 is right! There is only one way to lose unwanted weight, and that is to eat healthy portions of healthy food and to combine this with excercise.

In fact both healthy foods and excercise increase seratonin and endorpine levels in your brain. These are the chemicals that make you feel happy, so not only will you lose weight but you'll feel a lot less down.

One thing I will say though is that at 5'3" and 150lb you are literally on the line between overweight and normal, so I wouldn't worry too much! Somewhere between 115lb and 140lb would be your healthy weight.

You are young so this weight will probably disappear soon anyway, but some healthy eating and some excercise never hurt anyone!

Good luck - you'll be fine!

Hi there, sorry you are feeling sad....but you don't have to be stuck with this for life you know...a lot of kids your age go through a heavy period young in life and grow out of it eventually, but not without some lifestyle changes.

First off, you need to set an appointment with your family physcician to talk about a weight loss plan for you...you need to determine how many calories a day you are now eating to maintain that weight and reduce it by 300 to 500 calories a day and keep track of evertything you eat calorie wise to keep you honest and on track.

Portion control is key as is cutting out all foods containing high fructose corn syrup as it interferes with a natural hormone in our body that signals the brain when we are full....Try halfing your normal portions of food, only healthy snacks like raw veggies and fruit. Cut out suguary foods and so on....get on a healthy eating plan, no french fries, sorry.

And then get moving, don't sit on the couch watching TV in your spare time, ride a bike, play tennis, run, dance whatever you like to get you moving, and your clothes will start slowly falling off of you and you will get more motivated to get moving.

Don't feel sad, just take action and make a plan, you can do it, do it for you and your health, not for anyone else...hang in there kiddo.
