writes: I feel so disgusting, lately I can't stop eating. I am a size 8-10 and I know it sounds so dumb but I feel so fat, I constantly feel bloated, when I eat I feel disgusting and bloated.I know it's psychological but I don't know what to do. I even bought diet pills off the internet, but I know that once I start taking them, I have a problem.

reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2008): The average size for a woman, I believe, is 14 nowadays. However, I am also not fat and feel it sometimes. Working out (not in an obsessive way) is a safe way to feel in control of yourself. Diet pills, can help you lose your control and lead to eating disorders (often also a way to feel in control of yourself, but not a good one).
Make sure you keep a healthy diet, get all your food groups in and eat breakfast every morning. One of the biggest mistakes people make is starving themselves. Although, this is a good short-term solution, it screws up your metabolism. When your body feels it is starving it tries to store food, just in case it isn't fed again in a long time. You should never allow yourself to feel hungry. Also, drinking water really helps maintain EVERYTHING in your body! It also is a way to control portions. If you eat a calculated portion, but still feel hungry, try drinking a big glass of water before getting another helping. This not only fills you up, but more importantly it allows your body to realize that it has been fed and is no longer hungry.
If you are eating normal porportions, exercising regularly and are still your size, then that's what size you are supposed to be. We've all seen people who are too skinny for themselves and that is REALLY unattractive! Women are supposed to have curves. Hope this helps. -L

i need to get this straight - is it just when you eat certain foods that you feel bloated? do you feel ill? or is it just that whenever you eat you feel down? 8-10 is nowhere near fat! so if you are thinking that, and buying diet pills, i would think that you are heading down the path of an eating disorder - i think that you should talk to someone i.e your family, or someone you can trust. its a psychological problem and you cant just hope it will get better. you need to nip this in the bud before it spirals out of control hun. you dont wanna make yourself sick do you? the best thing to do to feel healthy and good is to eat healthily - 3 meals a day, no snacking, and excercise regurlarly. if you feel that this is not going to make you feel better about yourself, then you should get help chick. if you want more help, just email me, good luck and stay happy xxx

What do you mean when you say you can't stop eating? Three meals a day is fine with a snack if you want one. Feeling bloated is normal if you drink a lot of water too.
I can tell you from experience that diet pills don't work. Don't bother. The best thing you can do is eat healthily and stop obsessing about food. You need about 2000 calories a day if you're active. Anything under 1200 calories a day isn't good for your body. It slows metabolism and you actually end up gaining weight as a result.
The best advice you could get is to start enjoying life a bit more. Your weight is fine. You could be out there doing things and having fun during the time you'd spend feeling down. If you have any problems, do talk about them.

Must be horrible. You could be eating the wrong things maybe? That actually do make you bloated?
8-10 is fine and the fact you know that is a good thing. But you do need to find out why you are buying diet pills off the net. They dont work by the way.
