My best friend told me she kind of liked this guy, but it was visabley apparent the only reason she liked him was because she was trying to get over the guy who she hooked up with for a while. He didn't want anything more but she was in love with him. So on the plane ride home, the boy told me he liked me. I was ecstatic because I secretly had liked him back. I asked my friend for permission to tell him I liked him back and she seemed a little bummed but said she wouldn't mind. The boy lives up at his lakehouse over the summer. I went up there twice this summer and it was amazing. We kissed a lot, and I asked him if we were going to go out come school year. He said, the school year changes things so we'll see. Later in the summer, he invited both my friend and I up there but only she could go. They both promised me nothing would happen. Unfortunately they lied and he held her hand under a blanket and said, "maybe we'll date come school year." Well, the school year is here and he is talking to her but not me. He told me "he doesn't want to come in between our friendship so he isn't going to date either of us." She pretended to be guilty and then later said, "Well, life's unfair." Yes, it is. To top all of this off, my mom has cancer and neither of them ever bother to ask how she's doing. I just feel so hurt. What should I do?
