A male United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I'm 26, she's 25. it's been 6 years since i seen her last, i had a huge crush on her before and we hung out a lot but i never really put on any moves on her. i didn't have a lot of confidence back then but these days i'm VERY cocky. She just got out of a 6 year relationship, and I just got out of a 6 year marriage. We never got out of the whole friends thing back then, are the odds better now that I'm very confident, even though I'm poor and can't really take her out on a date right now? She's living with her father too, just moved out of her ex's. I saw her once and talked for about 45 minutes at a bookstore, but I just don't want to get too comfortable as friends if perhaps we both want to go farther.

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (17 April 2010):

You don't need to spend a fortune.

Just ask her out and take her to a movie. Do it on a day that has 2 for 1 so you can even buy her some pick'n'mix.

Ask her out or lose her. Although beware you are both on the rebound so it may be a good idea to keep your distance till she's over her ex.

Good Luck!! xx
