She clearly likes me, and I want to ask her out but to be honest, I've always been awful at that. Not for fear of rejection, but because I really don't have great communication skills when talking one on one in general. Is there a way I can go about this by means of a note and a small gift perhaps without it being weird? I'm way better at saying things when I have time to think about them. Thanks in advance. I agree with CaringGuy... a note with your number (and maybe an offer for Coffee on XX/xx/xx (date)) is a good idea if you can't manage to say the same thing in words...
I also would not include a gift...

I would write her a very short note just saying that you think she's lovely and you'd like to get to know her, and put your number on it. Then just slip it to her. I wouldn't give her a gift or anything.
