I don't want my ex back - but he's still in my head. Is this normal?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hello,

I'm seeking a bit of advice on dealing with an ex. Me and him were together 5 months, he was my first love and the guy I lost my V to and we were very much in love the time we were together. However, after a very messy break up I did come to realise he was right in ending it because we're too different in opinion and belief and yet too similar in our stubborness and big characters. However, I have recently come home after my first semester at Uni and having run into him and his current gf in a cafe him and I used to work at - although I don't want him back or feel in love with him I still can't get him out of my head or the curiosity about who his new girl is and what he's up to. Is this normal? Should I do something about it - if so what?

Thanks!
