writes:Back in September, I began a beauty course at a community college. I do enjoy it, but it has become apparant that the teacher dislikes me. I thought perhaps I was being over sensitive, but my classmates have noticed the way she speaks to me with short fuse as if I frustrate her, so I know its not just my imagination. I try hard in class and have always been very pleasant to her, so I honestly dont think I have done anything to warrant this. Today, she made fun of me infront of the whole group because I was doing a task wrong. I know I disconcert her, and I want to confront her, because I cant continue the next two years like this, but i am scared it will make it worse. What should i do?

 I'd agree with Deirdre, but it's different to a class/group you can join and a college course. You don't want to cause trouble for yourself unless it's a last resort.

I would ask her outright, at a time when there is no one else in earshot. Put her on the spot in the same way she has done to you. I had this situation in an exercise class before and I left it, despite loving the class. The tutor made fun of me in front of the entire class several times and like in ur situation, other people noticed this. I said nothing and I regret doing so as I would have been less angry and upset about it had I simply said something and got it out of my system.

Don't "confront" her, but you can try a bit of "kissing up" and ask what you can do to improve X, Y, Z.
If she gives you something to do and that doesn't change her attitude towards her after two weeks, you can calmly go up to her after class and ask her if she's unhappy with something you've done.
