Question - (13 August 2006) 6 Answers - (Newest, 14 August 2006)
A female Denmark, anonymous writes:

Hi, i am a pakistani girl, aged 18.

My problem is that I would like to be fair skinned, i am quite tanned. I don't want to change myself out of insecurity or for others. I merely feel that my facial features don't suit this dark colour. I have brown hair and green eyes and I think I would look much better with fair skin. Does anybody have any advice on how to go about this safely?

thanks

You sound absolutely exotic and please don't confuse real beauty to what the media promotes as beauty.

Be proud that you are unique and exquisite.

hugs2muchgal agony auntyou sound absolutely beautiful

im a mixed race girl and i would love to be darker to look like my indian family, but i am paler than all of them b/c i am half white. i wish i could be tanner with green eyes. brown is booring.

dark skin with green eyes is the ultimate!

don't change your skin color

only weirdos like micheal jackson do that! (he is FREAKY!)

i bet you are beautiful

dark skin is gorgeous and the tanned look is what all white people wish they had.

enjoy your looks, and instead of changing skin tone if you are really desperate to have your features match, get colored contacts for a color which matches your hair and face better

good luck and think of how many girls wish they were you!

bonym agony auntAs a black girl who is quite dark skinned I got bullied every waking day of my life. I got racism from other races for being black and from my own race for being dark skinned, but what I have realised is that many white people are desperate for a tan and black people and Asians want to be lighter, its being ungrateful to God as He made you EXACTLY how he wants you to be. You have green eyes, and dark skin so what, thats beautiful, messing with your skin tone will only cause problems, love yourself and be happy. I used to wish I was lighter, then I would be prettier, but then I told myself the "blacker the berry the sweeter the juice" be HAPPY AS YOU ARE. xXx

A reader, anonymous, writes (13 August 2006):

You are 18, it is normal to want to be someone you're not.

Other girls your age will look at you and wish they had some of your features.

Everyone compares themselves to one another, but as you get older they do it less because they become comfortable, and secure, with who they are. This is what you will do. You will grow to accept yourself, and love who you are.

It's either that - or turn to drastic measures like cosmetic surgery. Altering deformities, or enhancing parts of your body is arguably harmless - but people who seek to change "who they are" will never find happiness because the problem is in their head - not on their outer body.

Juliette agony auntI am amazed. Here we have 99% of the white UK polulation trying to look like you and you want to be fair skinned. Apart from the fact I have never heard of safe treatment except for dark blemishes on white skin, or that disease Michael Jackson allegedly has, then be proud of yourself. My daughter is 'snow white' and considers herself ugly because she isn't dark!

She is beautiful and I bet you are too!

Personally, I am too tall and would like to 'petite'.
