oldfool agony auntHe probably doesn't know he's causing you such pain. Maybe he gets a little exasperated when you don't catch on as quickly as he does. Maybe he gets off on feeling superior. Whatever the reason, he probably just doesn't understand how hurtful this is.

Is there any area where he is not so brilliant? Anything where he falls short? Nobody is perfect, so there must be something that he's not so good at. Before you consider leaving him, give him a bit of his own medicine.

The place you might start is to criticise his teaching. Tell him he's a crappy teacher -- in fact, the worst teacher you've ever had. Tell him a teacher is supposed to make a student gain a sense of achievement from learning something -- and he doesn't do it at all. Maybe he will wake up to himself. If he doesn't, and just pours on more abuse, walk away.

Good luck!
