You CAN catch thrush from sex, if the other person has it but it occurs naturally much more often. Its just a bacterial infection, some people are more prone to it than others and therefore it can be reoccurring.
The good news is you can just pop to the chemist and buy Canisten either cream or dual (cream and a capsule) and treat it yourself. Also to sooth I have heard natural yoghurt works.
To prevent it coming back try and reguarly practice good personal hygiene and wear cotton underwear rather than lace or other materials, this lets more air circulate the genital area, which prevents the bacteria finding it hospitable.
It doesnt take long to clear with the right treatment so get some canisten as soon as possible x

You can buy over the counter meds in the meantime for fairly cheap. Your condition most likely has NOTHING to do with sex. However if the symptoms don't go away within a reasonable timeframe, you should see a gynecologist. I'm not sure how things work where you're from, but I know where I'm from, it's pretty easy to get free exams when your underage and don't want your parents to know. By the way, if this is a recurring situation, I've heard that occasionally douching with white vinegar can prevent the condition from coming back. In the meantime buy some cotton underwear and tell your friends to educate themselves before putting scary ideas in your head. Hope to have helped -Jmo

Sexual contact isn't, in fact, the most common way of getting thrush. The commonest cause is wearing tight trousers or nylon underwear. I get thrush occasionally at around the time of my period. So you don't need to worry about your mother finding out that you're not a virgin - if you really don't want to tell her you don't need to. And in fact there's actually no need for her to even know you've got thrush. It's very easily treated with over the counter medicines
