does he like me, or just as a friend?

there is a guy that i have bee friends with for a few years, and then over the past few months have become close. We have been spending lots of time together, we have been to the cinema together, been out for a night out together, and he comes round to mine to wathc dvds etc. then one night i was very drunk and i ended up kissing him all night and he stayed over at my house and we kissed in the morning. I thought the next day it might ruin our friendship and i didn't want it too, and i also i kind of liked someone else and he knew that so we just forgot about it and things were still the same and really great friends.

Then another night we had been out and he came round to my house afterwards for a drink, he stayed at mine on the sofa and then he came into my room in the morning, the next day and we just stayed in bed all day, nothing more happened than kissing, and cuddles and we were just in each others arms. we talked all day long it was really nice.

I still wasn't sure if i liked him or not, but again i said i just wanted to be friends and he agreed.

He knew i liked this other guy, but then the other week i realised nothing was going to happen with the other guy, and he had been quite horrible to me, so i went home a bit upset. The guy friend text me to see where i was, i said i had gone home he came round to see if i was ok. He told me that the other guy was not nice, and didn't know why i liked him so much, he said he would treat me so much better and he liked me loads. i said he didn't, but he said why did i stay the all day the other week with you in bed and we just talked and he said it felt so nice. We kissed more and then he stayed over again, nothing happened and in the morning, he had to get up for work.

Im so confused beacause now he isn't texting me, he doesn't call or come round, and when i saw him in the street the other day he just said hi and walked on. Does he feel he has said too much and ruined being friends, or does he not mean what he said, or does he think i still like the other guy? I don't know what he thinks. Im not sure if i want to go out with him to see if i like him more than as friends, but what happens if i ruin it. The worst thing is that the other guy i liked is one of his best friends, so i would still see him all the time.

A female reader, mum2be United Kingdom +, writes (29 March 2007):

It sounds to me as if you are messing around with his head a bit! First you say you just want to be friensd, then you kiss him and let him spend the night!... If i were him, i would be confused! Get your own head sorted before you try to figure out what is going on in his, as i am sure he does like you 'more than just a friend', but you have confused him so much he does not know what to do!

If you like him, go out with him, if you dont, be clear and stick with that... dont send him mixed signals.
