well, i am 15 now and i was in a similar sitution as yours at about 9 years old. I havent had the best childhood ever, and my mum had to go to hospital for about 5 months and after that, i decided to come live with my nan. my mum was fully understanding as she knows how i was upset about her illness and we still had a great relationship untill she sadly passed away last year. just talk to your dad and he will understand you fully. al you need is confidence.

 I'm a single dad. I have 2 living with me and 2 who don't. We've discussed them moving in with me. But, what I tell them is they have to make that choice. I love them when they are with me and when they are not. Choosing to live with their mom doesn't make me love them any less. I still get to see them often, and I know they still love me.
Choose what's best for you. Your mom and dad will understand and will love you for whatever you choose.

 Well, you're thirteen - and tho that's quite young you know what you want and you have reasons for that. It's okay if you want to live with your mum. You still love your dad obviously otherwise you wouldn't be putting so much consideration into it.
Talk to your dad about it. as well as your mum. Just talk about it. explain your reasoning. make sure your dad knows you're not doing it to hurt him and that you have real genuine reasons for wanting to live with your mum. I'm sure it'll work out. :) just be open and honest.
