I'm wondering why I can't lose weight no matter what I do. I've changed the way I eat and I exercise regularly, however, I haven't lost a pound. I vary my workouts so that I've been eating super healthy: oatmeal, salads with no dressing, little to no bread - I eat small portions of chicken, fruits and vegetables, I've been counting my calories at Livestrong.com and have followed their weight loss advice...Meaning that I stay within my caloric intake of 1178 a day. This count was their advice to losing a pound and a half a week. I've now been doing this for 3-1/2 weeks, to no avail. I haven't lost any weight nor do I feel "smaller." My pants fit the same as they always have. I also drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. I'm just really frustrated...I follow all of the rules and no matter what I do, I can't lose weight. For a little more background information, I take vitamins: calcium, multi-vitamin, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and fish oil. ? Please help.

what are your workouts like? How much weight/cardio. I started a workout program of 30min cardio (stepper/treadmill/cycle/walking) five days a week, 1 hour weights 3 times a week in April 2009. Diet similar to yours. After the first month I had gained 5lb. I knew I was doing the right thing but gain confused me. Following month I lost the 5lb and went back to original weight. Perservered. But didn't lose anything for another 3months after that. Seriously. Persevered. Then suddenly after 5 months it started melting off. Now I have lost 20lb altogether. I am particularly resistant but slow loss is good. Your skin adjusts to the loss so no need for tummy tuck!! Got another 20lb to get to target. Lessons learnt: You have to stick to a program for 6 months before you give up on it. You have to be consistent; if you can't do 30min, do 15min. Reduce cheat days to one a week instead of daily cheat; that chocolate slab a day does hurt. Reduce carbs after 2pm to veg only. But don't do carb free diet because its unsustainable for a lifetime plan. Don't give 6 week deadline like mags say; 6 months to 1 year minimum. Good luck

Hmmm, well something should be happening.

Unless you are so skinny there is no more left to lose of course.

I think your best bet is to talk to a medical professional and check there is nothing wrong with your metabolism, or anything like that.

They can also advise you on what weight you should be aiming for and where you may have gone wrong.

Good Luck!! xx
