I can't keep a conversation going!

hey. okay, i love my boyfriend an awful lot. we knew each other for ageessss before we started having a proper relationship. my question is when we're together, we run out of things to say. like completely. he's shy, i'm shy but i don't think thats the reason. most of the time we have really deep conversations but the other part of the time i just dont know what to say. its not me being nervous, its just my head goes blank. i dont get to see him tons because he goes to a different school. any suggestions for things to talk about with him because i feel like such a failure when i cant keep a conversation going properly. argh, so frustrating.
