Bev Conolly agony auntIf you like her, then why not give her a chance? Don't base your love life on what your friends think! After all, you're not dating your mates...

Jeered? Mocked? For dating a girl a whole year younger? Puh-leease. If your mates would give you a hard time for going out with the girl of your choice, then those are friends you don't need. (Probably jealousy speaking anyway.)

I know it's a tough assignment but you did ask for advice. This is what a worldly adult would do in your situation: he'd ask her out and get to know her, and if his friends dared to make negative comments, he'd smile and tell 'em to go fall in a hole.
