writes: I need some advice. I have been apart from they guy I was dating for just over a year now, and I can't get over him. We were together for a pretty long time (about three years), and he was the first and only guy I ever truly fell in love with. He was sent back to his country very suddenly (we are both immigrants to the US), and although we were in contact for a while after he left, we have not been able to stay in touch.(Due to very complex circumstances which I cannot explain here). Every day I think of him and how much I miss him and I feel that after more than a year I should be able to let go! I would love it if someone could help me out or give me some advice on how to get past this loss. Thank you for your time.

Keep busy - fill your life with experience, fun and laughter. Standing forlornly won't help. If there is anything you can do to change the situation then do it. If not you have to get on with life.
Part of being alive is feeling what you are feeling now. It's awful I know. Most of us know. There is no easy panacea.
