I can't find girls my age outside of school. Should I go for older woman?

I go to a conservative christian school, I am an Atheist however and I want to know where I can find girls my age 17, outside of school. I go to the city every day and hang out in book shops and coffee shops but, I can never see a girl my age there, the girls at school tell me that I look fine and somewhat hot, the only cute girls I can see or in their late 20's, 30's, 40's. Should I try to start up a relationship with someone that's far older then me?
