I do feel a bit of discomfor on the right side of my lower abdomen. This is not dramatic, just slight.I have an appointment at the family planning clinic on Friday morning (the place where I had it inserted).Has anybody had a similar experience? What happened? Fiona xxx is verified as being by the original poster of the questionHi
Just had my appointment with the family planning doctor.
She couldn't een feel the tip if the coil, just inside the cervix, like she said she normally can. Did a pregnancy test, which was ok.
Have to go to the hospital for a scan on Wednesday to locate it, as I am convinced it is still there, but moved.
Trust me!

Intrauterine System (IUS)
An IUS is a contraceptive device, it's fitted by a doctor and remains in the womb for a fixed amount of time, after which it must be changed.

I have the IUS 'Mirena', and had a partner who could feel them.
You can check to see if your IUS is still in place by putting your finger in the vagina and feeling the threads coming through the cervix.
The best time to do this is regularly in the first month and then after each period if you have one. If you cannot feel the threads or if you feel a hard end rather like a matchstick, you should see your doctor straight away.
It's good that you have an appointment, it's important that you have a check~up regularly ~ about six weeks after fitting and then at least once a year.

You need to go see your doctor- since you have to check every now and then to make sure the strings are straight and not in a knot. If you don't feel them then you need to see your doc.
Are you sure you're checking the right way?
Good luck
