writes:I have been with my girlfriend for 2 1/2 years now, we are both virgins and have tried to have sex many times, but whenever we do try i can only get my penis in about a third of the way before it starts to hurt her, she says its like a sharp pain in her side. I really don't like hurting her and when i do i start to lose my erection. Its very frustrating for us, we've tried many positions, used lube and lots of foreplay, but nothing seems to work. We are now starting to think that im too big for her, which may seem like a blessing, but in reality its more like a curse. We both love each other very much and know that this problem will never end our relationship. Please, give me all the advice you can. many thanks :)

reader, anonymous, writes (11 September 2008): not so sure her hymen would give pain in her side, sounds more like a colic type pain, this can be from a number of things if she has irritable bowel or constipation, or polysistic ovaries can also cause pain during sex, make an appointment to see the gp they can refer her for further tests just to be sure and safe, sorry to have to agree with the other aunt who says your rarely too big, unless its bigger than a 8lb baby its unlikely sorry :-( goodluck with ya gf xx

Well it it could be her hymen, as losing your virginity can be painful when it breaks.
I think since you have tried so many times and it hasn't helped then it might be good to get her to see a gynocologist just to check everything is ok.

reader, anonymous, writes (11 September 2008): 1st of all it hurts everybody on there 1st time no matter what... when u paln it to happen it never goes the rite way... as ur both nerves and you body mussles tense up... you both need to relax... as for it might be to big for her,,, i dont think any penis can be too big as with woman the vergina can strech very wide as a baby can come out of it..... i think you both need to relax and stop thinking about what has happen in the pass as that can be a problem too, i wish all the luck.... x

 Maybe her hymen isnt broken yet, that could be the pain although I dont know why she would feel it in her side.
Try using your fingers first, one, then two if its not too painful.
