I even asked if we could still be friends because I don't want us to be enemies like my other ex-boyfriends (I didn't say the boyfriends bit). I didn't cheat on him or leave him for another guy, I just needed some space because there are so many complicated things going on in my life at the moment. Please help because it's really getting me down with people saying stuff even when I didn't do anything wrong.

It's your life. You don't have to explain yourself to other people. You know the expression "Stick and Stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." As long as your ex-boyfriend understands I wouldn't worry about it. It's none of their business anyway. Sounds like you have enough going on in your life without worrying about a bunch of busy body's and their opinions. Just tell them to mind their own business, or ignore them.
