writes: I'm sorta worried now! I always said I wanted to save my virginity until I was older, mature and in love.. I've been in a relationship with this amazing guy now for just over a year, and we both felt ready, we'd spoke about it for about 6 weeks, I went on the pill.. and on valentines day, it finally happened, it was an amazing night, he made it really special... even though I'm 16 and hes 19, we were both virgins, well basically.. I'm gonna get carried away if I don't stop ma self lol.. Our first time was on valentines day, and I bled for 11 days! I spoke to my best friend and she said she bled for a few hours.. but 11 days! so that worried me a bit, but I thought it could have been my period too.. but then when it finally stopped, I noticed that when I went to the toilet, it stung and felt really hot.. I know it sounds gross but I need some advice, I told my best friend about it but I was embarrassed, she told me to drink cranberry juice, but I hate the stuff, she told me to go to a doctor but I'm embarrassed about it! It's awful, can anyone tell me why this is? Is it due to losing my virginity or could it be something else? Thanks for reading guys.. any advice is apprieciated xxx

When I first went on the pill I had spotting and bleeding every day for the first couple of weeks, could it be that? I think you need to check with your GP though. There is no need to be embarrassed they deal with personal things all the time and you can request to see a woman if it makes you feel more comfortable.

The bleeding could just be part of your hymen tearing, though 11 days is pretty long, to me at least.
The burning most likely came from a UTI (urinary tract infection) that you contracted from sex. It happens quite often. When the vagina is roughed up a bit, it swells, and that swelling can trap bacteria in your urethra, causing a UTI.
UTI's can sometimes be taken care of by drinking lots of water and natural cranberry juice (no sugar added), but if it gets worse, it can lead to a bladder infection, or even worse a kidney infection. If you get a dull ache on either side of your spine just above your lower back, then go see a doctor that day. A simple course of antibiotics will clear it up. Also, your parents wouldn't automatically think it's from sex, so you don't have to be worried about that.
I would ask your mom to set up an appt with your gyno so that they can take a look and make sure your vagina isn't torn or scratched. Just tell your mom you think you might have a yeast infection or something if you are worried about them knowing you had sex. But you should not be embarrassed around you doctor.
