I asked him to move in with me to save money but the conversation went nowhere!

A female United Kingdom age 41-50, *nteater writes:

My boyfriend of 6 months has stayed a my house every night now for the last 2 months. At the moment he rents a room in a shared house although he only gets a shower there then he's straight over to mine. As neither of us have much spare cash, I suggested that he moves to mine as he practically lives here now. He didn't say yes or no just 'how much will the rent be?' I didnt state a price as I haven't thought it through and that was it: the coversation never developed. Am I being too hasty? He's never told me he loves me even though he is very loving and kind. Would it be foolish to move him in so soon?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (22 November 2009):

It's practical. You want him to move in so the both of you can save money as his always at your house anyway. Love doesnt have much to do with the practicality of the situation as you described it. Do you want him there? Does he want to be there? Then why not. Just be prepared! Living with someone and dating someone are two different things, and can change the relationship if you are not prepared for all his nasty habits (and yes we all have nasty habits).
