Hello,

So I am 14 and am really starting to like this one girl. She is a year younger and is very pretty. The one bad thing is that we have only hung out like 3-4 times. Her friend said that she liked me and wanted me to ask her out. We were hanging out one night and i wasnt able to. I did the next day and she said yes. Then she sent a text saying she wants to hang out more before we date. But isn't that the point of going out? Was she maybe nervous? What should I do? Her parents are divorced so I can only see her every other week. I really want a girlfriend but dont want to wait too long. Please Help!

Thank You

A female reader, Lilylove1 United States +, writes (13 December 2010):

She's thirteen, and maybe it's her first relationship. In my case , I see 2 different scenarios: 1. Her mom/dad told her that you needed to know her better first. My best friends divorced parents are often wary about her getting into relationships fast because theirs didn't work out.

2., she herself isn't comfortable an wants to get to know you better.

Either way, the solution is to hang out with her more. After a few, ask her out on a group date, so that she (or her parents) won't feel vulnerable.
