Try giving yourself a little reward after working solidly for 30 or 40 minutes. This could be a chocolate, or anything else that makes you feel good. After doing three sessions of 30/40 minutes you could give yourself a bigger reward - watch a DVD or whatever.
At the start, don't overdo it. Set yourself realistic and comfortable goals, and try your best to stick to them. Most people are easily distracted, but by doing a little every day you'll get better at concentrating because it's a skill.
From my experience, if you don't just sit down and get yourself to do some work your stress will only spiral out of control, and what could have been a mildly enjoyable experience ends up being a horrible battle.
Good luck, mate.
