writes:Hi, i'm 13 and very lately the guy who i use to sit next to every lesson and year cause we were put in register order i keep being mean to him and want to see his work for example art we were doing painting out of books and i was really desperate to see his and i like being around him, what does that mean? Me being mean to him does it mean anything? I use to be nice but then in year 5 and year 6 i started getting mean and i dont know why. Reply to this Question

reader, anonymous, writes (2 October 2007): thanks for your help, and when i meant mean not in a harsh way but i always act like i hate it when he looks at me when really i don't, and yup i do this he's cute and have fun with him, and do feel bad when i do things like say i hate it when he looks at me aother thing he use to be nice to me all them years when sitting next to each other but then sudenly in year 5 and 6 he was meaner and ignored me and its like he hated me but then when we left school seing him on the way to school he's always smiling and looking at me. He's really confussing.

 Sounds like you like him and just don't know how to show it. Well, I'll tell you this much, being mean to him isn't going to get you anywhere! Why don't you approach him and talk to him? Maybe apologize for being mean. Who knows? He might like you already!
Being friends will give you a chance to figure out how you really feel about him. Try being nice!!

 Could it be because you have a little crush on him? Most kids your age like to be mean and bully the people the really like in order for that person to not know that you really do like them. I mean you have to ask yourself these questions
1) Do you think he's cute
2) Do you have fun with him
3) When you are mean to him do you feel bad afterward but dont let it show
These are all things that could help you figure out if you like him or not. I dont think that it is always that good to be mean to someone because you might end up really hurting their feelings, but I really suspect that you have a crush on him and that is why your are acting this way. But you should be careful because if you are too mean to him, he may not want to be around you, and then well, you basically lost your chance to maybe be more than friends.
