You said that yu wanted something powerful for a name, and you liked the name Andrew. Well, you are in luck. I came accross a website, it tells you meanings of names. And guess what? Andrew means manly, strong and courageous.
Here's the site for proof.
http://www.babynamesandmeanings.co.uk/name/ANDREW.html I hope this helps.
Congratulations and I wish you both the best of luck and a happy life with your new addition.

Well congratulations! I'm having a little boy in June!
I went to the website baby name genie.com
It gives you suggestions, helps you to understand what makes a good name! And! It has a name tester! It puts his full name in random sentences to see how it works out!
Good luck! I hope it helps... By the way! I love the name Edward James!

My boyfriend is called Andrew and he is the epitome of a good natured, strong, sweet, sensitive guy. I might be biased but I think Andrew is a great name for your baby

I actually knew a couple who named their poor son Thor... If you can ridicule and make fun of a regular name, then figure out how much fun you would have if you landed on your ass in the schoolyard with a name like Thor. Perhaps He-Man and She-Ra would be fun too, until you are 16 and want a drivers permit... And we actually had a guy whose parents named him Donald with a last name of Duck. How many time do you think he would up be dragged into jail after talking to a cop?
The three names that you mentioned sounded pretty normal. I think manly names are ones that you can't picture saying to a baby with kitchy-kitchy-koo in front of them, like George, Norman or Henry. Nothing cutsie about those names.
A few rules of thumb are if you have a short last name, use a multi-syllable first name and the reverse as well, such as Jonathan Cook and Sam Robertson. It's better to use a name in keeping with the ethnicity of your surname as well, and if you can fit it a family name, then so much the better. If a relative is pressing for a certain name to be used, you can always use it as a middle name if it's not your fav, and it keeps the peace and wins brownie points for your favored child... ;^D. AND, the number one way to pick a name? Go to your front porch/back door and scream the full name out at the top of your lungs!!! It will either come out good and natural or you with feel ridiculous saying it out loud! And it's good future practice too.
Congrats, and best of luck with everything!!! XXX

yeah, i dot Andrew either, it is very Generic. when i think of powerful, i think Masiah. if you are a strong religious person i would consider that. or maybe a middle name. but what my family does is, we put the middle name and first name together and therefore the child has no middle name. ie. NicholeVictoria or DavidIsaiah. I think it is highly unique and it would be super cool to see who calls him what. for instance you may end up calling him David and your husband may call him Isaiah. lol. or anyone of that matter. its would create a lot of talk. If you really like the name AndrewNicholas. you an your husband should try mixing the names like that. it would be so cool! Good luck!!

Andrew makes me think of a guy I used to know and basically just a bland name. It means "man, warrior". Edward makes me think of a sophisticated or older wealthy gentlemen. John I always thought was a cute name. I always go online and look for baby names to get ideas, some different names I never hear, ya know. I found Harrison which I thought was cute. Aidan, that means "little fire" which I think is adorable. You should go onto babynamesworld.com and search boy names. There are tons of names to look at choose from. Truthfully I look more for girl names and have those names planned out. Anyways good luck and congratulations!

Andrew to me is good....because my grandfather was called Andrew.
Have you looked at a native american name....with a double meaning?
I am sure you will find the perfect name for your new baby boy in the end.
Good luck and happy days!

A

Anyway, when I think of "Andrew", I think "Another generic name. Someone with brown hair." When I think of "Edward", I think "John Edward." When I think of "John", I think "Jonathan Tsang" which is one of my friends or "Long Johns".
We should start with whether you want creative names or generic names. Creative/stylish names have meaning behind them and generic names are regular Westernized/European names that are just names you see every day.

Edward - man with a tree on his head.
John - prince john in robin hood (disney version)...
