I really really need to lose weight. I have big bones, but i'm curvy.

So i'm not hugely out of proportion, but it definately looks like i need to lose some weight

Diet is simple for me, cut down, but if you have any day to day diet or meal tips, then please let me know.

I need to exercise as well, the only equipment i have is a 2kg weight, some 'ankle weights' and a sit up thing.

But i have researched and apparently sit ups and lifting weight does not help you to lose weight at all, it just tones the muscle under the fat.

I'll be honest and say i'm a lump, i want to look 'hot' for my boyfriend of 2 years, but i don't know where to start with diet or exercise, mainly exercise. I need to lose weight from just about everywhere, so some workout tips that i can do in my room without too much noise (if you can, if not, i would appreciate anything) would be much appreciated. Thankyou x

OP I hate to contradict spanner28 but capsiplex is a gimmick that makes you sweat out a little bit of water weight it does not burn calories. The study that was done by the company themselves was flawed, scientific data on capsiplex showed that it helped lose a very marginal amount of water weight.

Spanner28 4+ stone was lost by the fact she had a pill for breakfast, went to them gym on an empty stomach, ate normally afterwards and her need for food in the afternoon "was drastically reduced."

You asked for a healthy way and no offence to Spanner28 but hers is verging on the unhealthy depending on how much body fat she had to lose, losing on average 2 pounds a week is quite high. A pound of fat is 3500 calories, that pill apparently gets rid of 278 calories a day, roughly 2000 calories a week and she needed to burn 7000 a week to do what she did. Which tells me she worked her ass off in the gym and limited her intake too, perhaps even too much, but I don't know the full details of her routine to judge. but given the fact that capsiplex is known not to burn calories in that way it's useless to judge it that way as their "scientific data" was studied using the weight over time model which really ignores the issue of water weight.

Basically OP Spanner28 didn't lose that because of a pill, the pill had psychological effect on her more than actual physical one and while that's all well and good for her as it provided her the motivation needed to do what she did. Something tells me what she did was far from healthy.

I don't know her starting weight but losing weight too fast really fucks up your metabolism and as soon you stop that kind of routine your metabolism will crash and that's where yo-yoing comes from. Because losing weight in that way is unsustainable you will eventually fall away to nothing and it is more likely to eat into your muscles including internal ones like your heart than it is your fat stores.

Now with all due respect to the other posters they really should have paid more attention to your age, you're a teenager OP. You need to take extra care when doing anything like this because your body is not fully developed. You can stunt your growth and you can really fuck up your metabolism and hormone levels if you start taking pills and overdoing the weight loss.

And no offence to you but your research is load of bullshit too. Lifting weights is one of the best ways of consuming calories it burns up a hell of a lot, it gives you stronger (but not bigger muscles as you're a girl) that burn up more calories even sitting down doing nothing because resistance training improves them in every way. It also improves your metabolism.

OP I won't sit here and tell you what to do, you need to go see your doctor first for advice. But losing weight is the easiest thing in the world, you limit your intake a small bit, you don't diet or take pills or be an idiot and you add exercise to your life and be patient. That's all there is to it.

Go to your doctor and ask them for advice pertaining to you. They can tell you how much you need to lose if at all, and how long it should take to lose it the right way.

You obviously don't have a clue what kind of advice is right or wrong if you think that weights do nothing.

You want to do this right? Go to your doctor OP. Don't search for some bullshit on the internet, you're young enough to do real damage to yourself, permanent damage so don't be a fool.

Daisy_Daisy agony auntIf we all went to our doctors when we wanted to lose a little bit of weight, there would be no appointments left for the people who actually need them! As long as you are sensible and don't try to run a marathon/ climb Mount Everest, I'm sure you'll be fine. Everything in moderation (both food and exercise).

I'm where you are. I have two kids and am now on the road to weightloss to look and feel better.

No processed food.

No soda.

I eat healthy eighty percent of the time and treat myself every now and then.

I have a dvd, Turbo jam, that I'm working out to, It's martial arts, dance, weight training all combined. I love it, the music is awesome and you aren't on the floor. Cardio will help you lose weight.

I was over weight when I was younger, TJ helped me lose weight. I went from 170 down to 118 in about seven months, it was awesome. I'm trying to get back down close to there.

Good luck. and being healthy isn't a temporary thing, it's a life choice you have to be committed to.

SensitiveBloke agony auntDon't go on a diet that ends only for all the weight goes back on again. Instead change your eating habits forever. Eat 3 meals a day. Avoid snacks at all costs! Take up an exercise you enjoy like walking or swimming. Think of it as a long-term project not a quick fix.

If you want to do this right, you will talk to your doctor first before trying to lose weight on your own

So_Very_Confused agony auntDo not lose weight to look hot for someone else.

Lose weight to be healthy and look good for yourself….

The best exercise you can get for burning calories is walking or maybe dancing… I just got a DDR for my Wii and although I can’t do all the moves (my back won’t let me do the jumps or faster moves) I am MOVING and that’s important.

Weight lifting is nice for toning but not for weight loss… but what you want is toned and healthy…

3 meals a day

2 snacks

Try to avoid “white things” white rice, white flour, white sugar…

The fewer ingredients the better…

Fruits and veggies…

Low fat dairy….

And probably as a teen around 1800 calories a day with exercise is plenty…..

30 minutes of walking (can be one time, 2 fifteen minute walks or 3 ten minute walks) is the minimum you should do….

Exercise at least 5 days a week

Eat healthy 80-90% of the time but do allow yourself the occasional treat…

Fat is important to but you need good fat… avocado, nuts that sort of thing… NOT candy or junk food.

best of luck to you

Daisy_Daisy agony auntExercise!

You don't need equipment. You can walk/ fast walk/ jog/ run around your local park, and it's totally free. Good idea to wear your ankle weights while doing this as you'll burn more calories and tone up your legs at the same time. You can go for bike rides (also free) or go to the gym or swimming pool.

As well as sit ups, you can do squats, lunges etc in your room.

I think you'll find it difficult to get any decent cardiovascular exercise done in your room (I've tried that; just end up bumping in to the sofa/ radiator/ desk) but might be worth a try if your room's large enough.

I think it's easiest (and therefore more sustainable) to incorporate exercise gradually in to your routine, e.g. walk to places instead of jumping on the bus, take the stairs instead of the escalator/ lift, etc etc. The weight loss is gradual but it will happen.

Good luck!
