How to say goodbye to my best friend of 7 years?

Question - (4 June 2014) 2 Answers - (Newest, 4 June 2014)
A male Egypt age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hello everyone,

My best friend of over 7 years is going to leave the country and go live in the states to pursue the career that she has always wanted. She leaves in exactly 3 weeks.

I want to do something special for her before she leaves and let her know that I will REALLY miss her. She is a very intelligent person, a bit of a tomboy, doesn't like corny stuff and is really bad when it comes to expressing genuine emotions.... but she is a very good dependable friend. She likes reading books (a book worm), drinking, partying, and a DEEP profound love for chocolates.

Any ideas for what I should do for her? I want to make it very special for her before she leaves.

Thank you.

Is this a friend that you have romantic feelings for or just a friend?

You don't mention that she's a girlfriend so I'll assume it's the latter.

How about arranging a small leaving party with her friends. See if you can hire a chocolate fountain for the evening - they're popular with chocoholics. Take some good photographs of her enjoying herself with her friends.

And buy her a couple of good books to read on the plane. You can write some nice words on the inside page

thoughtsshared agony auntIf she's leaving the country she won't really have space to take gift items.

Perhaps there are places near where you live which have chocolate tasting or chocolate making sessions? Otherwise, you could take her for afternoon tea at a five star hotel or restaurant which makes its own chocolate cakes and truffles.

This could be followed by cocktails and then dancing at her favourite club (with or without her other friends). To satisfy her bookworm side perhaps you could give her a voucher for an online book retailer in the states or a special leather-bound classic novel.
