A male reader, Collaroy Australia +, writes (8 November 2007):

Collaroy agony auntI'm sure he is very nervous as well. The confidence may be there but he isnt Brad Pitt so he will be nervous as well. So dont worry!

When I was your age I used to be petrified when I went out with a girl, you think you are going to say stupid things, and she may not think you are funny, and she may fancy someone else already, she may not like me anymore, and this and that...etc etc.

What I'm trying to say is this is normal. Being really nervous is what dating is all about. In fact the more you really like someone the more nervous you get. Go figure huh?

Sometimes I felt it made things easier when I just told the girl I was a bit nervous. It helps, because then you can both relax and just enjoy yourselves and get to know each other.

So dont worry , just try and be who you are , you are shy you say? this guy probably doesnt like loud rude girls so that's why he asked YOU out. Get it? Being shy can have its benefits. Enjoy yourself and good luck.
