Hi. I think spending all day, every day on FB is rather odd. Its supposed to be a way of staying in contact not a way of life. If their time online is affecting them to the extent that they are neglecting themselves and their 'real time' friends, then they could be addicted to it.

I think that "normal" is relative to each individual person. If they're keeping their life in balance with work, family, friends, and Facebook, then that's healthy.
However, if Facebook is consuming their lives, or they cry for hours because of a status update or their work or grades are suffering along with their sleep, then it's an addiction and needs to be addressed. A lot of those time-waster games on Facebook such as Farmville, Frontierville or something like that are designed to be addictive.
Hope that helps!
