writes:i just got my first order of birth control pills yesterday (yaz) and will start them mid july. im just a little confused about the time it will take for the pill to take full effect and protect against pregnancy??? is it a week, a month, three months???

reader, anonymous, writes (24 October 2007): I've heard a week [which i DO NOT believe] and I've heard 30 days or 3-4 weeks. I've been on it for 2 1/2 months and I'm looking for the same answer. Good luck! btw...I would choose to be safe and wait a while like me. I still use a condom and you should definitely do the same.

 It depends entirely on what pill you are on as they work differently, you should have a leaflet inside the packet telling you everything you need to know about that pill, if you are unsure mail me and i will give you the information that you need.

 Well, my docotor told be about 2 weeks. You can never be too sure, so make sure to use condoms each time you have sex. That's tha main thing. You don't want to end up pregnant.

 A week is what you are usually told but I would wait longer. At the end of January I had a stomach bug and me and my guy used condoms as being sick and diarrhea effects the pill. We used them for a week and then stopped. And now I'm pregnant :D
So just be careful. If you are unsure get your guy to wear a condom or don't have sex!

 a week i got told when i went on the pill, but babii, ur doc was supposed 2 tell u that before he gave them you, that isnt very good of ur doc, hope i helped, mail me if u wanna talk x x x
