My doctor told me two weeks- but this could vary depending on the brand and type of pill you take, so you should read the instructions in the packet and ask your doctor.

Depends on the type of pill you are on. Read the leaflet that came with it and that should tell you.
Good Luck!! xx

Doctors vary on the issue and I have been told different things by two doctors. One told me it was effective immediately and the other said it was best to wait a month. I went with the second because she was a woman who used the same pill and it seems better to be safe than sorry.

My doctor told me it will take a full month of the pills before having sex without a back-up form of contraceptive. So take one full pill pack before having sex without any other form of protection.
