A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I am 18 years old i have had an eating disorder for about 2 years and my period is scarce, mostly not there at all.... i have been more so bulimic then anorexic in the last 6 months or so and i actually got my period for the first time in a long time, about a year? (or just a little less) 2 weeks ago. it was light and a little more then 48 hrs long. i have maintained a low bmi for quite some time and right now i am 5ft 11in and weigh 120. i have recently started taking ocella for a birth control since i have finally got me a boyfriend and today we had sex and he came inside me without a condom. we plan on getting the plan b pill tomorrow, but with my barely-there periods and bc (i know it takes 2 weeks for them to become effective) How high are my chances of getting pregnant? is there anything i need to know?

A female reader, k_c100 United Kingdom +, writes (18 March 2010):

k_c100 agony auntI'm not sure how long you have been taking contraception but if it is less than 2 weeks then there is always a chance of getting pregnant - yes your chance might be reduced by the lack of menstruation but you just dont know if your body has released an egg or not so you really should take the plan b pill just in case.

It is better that you take the plan b pill just in case, rather than risking it and leaving it up to chance. Getting pregnant now would be very irresponsible so do the right thing and take the plan b pill. In the mean time keep using condoms until you have been taking your contraception long enough to make it effective.

I hope this helps and good luck!
