I have always asked this question before as I have always doubted my feelings for my past relationships. It's like my feelings for them were of either infatuation, convenience or it's just because I got used to them being around.
But when I met my current boyfriend, now I know what it means when you really love a person. A love for a person will make you do new things you've never done before. It will make give things without expecting anything in return. It will make you think of this person's welfare in everything that you decide on involving them. And best of all, will make you become a better person yourself.
I don't know how others know but that's how I know now if i really love a person.

Though it has a definite definition, love is actually quite arbitrary. There's no one definitive explanation of how to recognize love, but frequently mentioned feelings include the need for that person, sense of security when around them, and association of that person with personal comfort.
