 It does really depend on the situation. Explain more. Do you think you are being used by someone close to you? Girlfriend/Boyfriend, a relative, friend, etc.

reader, anonymous, writes (23 September 2006): I have a friend and I am aware that she uses me ( ie calls only when she has an hour between appointments or meeting other friends and when we are together she talks to others on the cell phone, borrows my food etc. and doesnt actually care about me) You know they are using you when they dont actually care- when they dont ask questions, when they dont seem to be concerned with your life or what is going on with you, then they are using you- if they are using you to find others you know at parties or to mooch off of you or use your knowledge of hot places to be- all the while not caring about your emotions then they are using you.

 Some people do play hard to get and make some one put more effort in to something so they can see if that person is serious, but they stil give something into it, if that person haves you giving everything into something and they are giving nothing, your the one making all the moves to call, arrange going out, your the only one that seems like you want to be there and things like that then I would say your being used.

1)Traditionally its out of courtisy for the man to pay for the meal or pay more than their fair share,but now a days some woman like to pay their own share.
2) Perhaps the woman could be testing you by doing this to see your reaction to it.

Could say when a person expects you to pay more than your own way.
You are the person who is always going out of your way to please them when they dont really contribute.
