My girlfriend is not on the pill or any other form of birth control, she says condoms are safe enough but as I have little experience I am a little bit worried about this as she doesn't want a baby and neither do I. So my question is - how do you know if a condom splits? Will I be able to tell? Cheers.

Yes, you can DEFINITELY tell. (the following is a little gross, but sex with all those fluids can be pretty nasty. So bare with me). After all's done, run your fingers from the base to the tip pushing the semen. If it doesn't leak out at the tip (or somewhere else) you're fine. Seriously, there won't be some little tiny microbreak that got her pregnant. They really don't break often. Also you can smell semen, so you can have her do a smell check on herself to make sure all those fluids are hers. It takes like 10 seconds to do and will put your mind at ease. Condoms are very safe when used correctly. The reason the failure rate is so high is that many people don't use them properly. If the condom does break, she can always take the morning after pill. Some tips:
1. Get one that fits. Don't buy XXL super magnum to boost your ego. A too large condom can slip off, a too small one can break. (also make sure you get lubricated)
2. Pinch an inch at the top. Meaning, make sure there's enough room for the ejaculate at the tip.
3. Check the condom before you ejaculate. Make sure it hasn't ridden up during sex.
4. Hold the base securely as you withdraw so it doesn't fall off.
5. Don't keep going at it for too long after you've cum or you can push the stuff out the bottom.
Good luck!

Well what id do, before the condom is used, fill it will water and if any water comes out of it then its no good, also open it properly and buy the correct size. If however you find the condom has spit after you've had sex then I suggest the morning after pill. Talk to your girlfriend about going on the pill aswell as using condoms

Yeah, you can definitely tell. She should be able to feel that there's is less friction, as should you. To avoid this, I suggest not using brands that fit too snugly.
