A male United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

Hi I posted about how you tell if a condom's split before and thanks for the replies to that one. But speak of the devil, today the condom did split!! Atleast now I know how to tell... anyway, here's the thing: my gf is on day 7 of her cycle ie sunday was the 1st day of her period.

We know to get the emergency contraceptive which we'll be doing first thing in the morning. But how will we know if that pill worked since her period was only 7 days ago?? Will she have another period because of it? Also does it delay the release of the egg cell or just cause the uterus lining to break down? Thanks in advance folks

DoubleM agony auntThe information provided by "lilmisse2424" seems excellent. You are probably safe anyway within seven days of her period, but anything is possible. The "morning after pill" will very likely mess up her cycle. and from what I have been told, can make the girl feel fairly sick for a couple of days or more. But it is regarded as very effective.

lilmisse2424 agony auntI have used the emergency contraceptive pill, and it is also known as the morning after pill. One of the reasons women use the pill is in your situation, when the condom splits or breaks during sex. It works best up to 72 hours. You have to take the pill right after you had sex, and the next one 12 hours later. Make sure that she eats something while she takes these pills. She make experience abdominal pains, nausea, dizziness, and a few other symptoms. It is safe and works.

In regards to your other questions, it doesn't matter if she had her period 7 days ago. As long as she takes it with 72 hours. If she is starting to spot around the week she is due of her period or has her period on the time she is due, the pill did its job. It does not delay the release of an egg. It may delay her period and it does not cause uterus lining to break down.
