How do I tell my mom more about the guy I like?

Hey so a lot of people at school got their yearbooks last week. I signed a lot and I sighed this on boys yearbook and he wanted my number and I forgot mine and I gave him my moms number ha :). So today he called my mon and was asking for me and she was at the store and stuff. SI she called me and was all "who's blah blah and why is he calling you ?!". I panicked and I told her the truth and she sounded calm and stuff. I apologized and she responded in a kind of annoyed way. So yea funny story but anyways I wanna know how to tell my mom a bit more details and maybe hopefully I'm not the only one this kind of thing happened to. Thx :)
