A female Canada, anonymous writes:

How do you break the news to your parents about moving out, and living with a boyfriend which you dated for 1 1/2yrs?

I am 23 yrs old and my bf is 25. My bf and I both work and are able to support our own living. My parents are those tradional kind who believes you should get married before living together. And before you get married, you should date the guy at least 4 yrs. I totally disagree with the whole believe. I respect my parents and wanted to move out peacefully. What should I say to my parents?

cd206 agony auntTell your parents that you totally respect their beliefs. You just think that beliefs have changed with the times and that when you get married you want it to be for life, not to turn out as another divorce statistic and both you and your boyfriend think that the best way of ensuring you're right for each other is to live together for a while first. Hopefully this way they'll respect your maturity and thoughtfulness.
