There is a possibility that he will fade away after you tell him, a lot of guys won't work around something like that. I think this is why you are dragging your feet a bit. I'm sorry about your situation.
In the future you should tell them sooner..that way you don't spin your wheels needlessly with a guy that will just possibly split.
